Simple Method to Extract Lake Ice Condition From Landsat Images

چکیده

Ice plays key roles in regulating hydrological, ecological, biogeochemical, and socioeconomic functions of lakes. Long-term in situ lake ice phenological records indicate that is trending toward later freeze-up, earlier breakup, a shorter duration. Parallel to study using process-based models, satellite remote sensing can expand our understanding change over large spatial scales. However, most studies have focused on lakes or short periods time, which may not robustly represent changes multidecadal time the much more numerous small Here, we present random forest model, Sensitive Lake Detection (SLIDE), accurately extract conditions from Landsat TM, ETM+, OLI images. We trained model manually labeled dataset (1089 areas 995 globally). Our results show achieves accurate classification between ice/snow water (accuracy: 97.8%, kappa coefficient: 95.5%). Comparing Landsat-derived cover with conditions, produces less bias, lower RMSE, higher than does snow/ice flag quality assessment band. This especially true during transitional period surrounding off dates reported (mean bias ?7.3% ?17.3% band). demonstrate feasibility mining rich archive dynamics better flagging ice-affected observations.

Efficiency of Spectral Indices Derived from Landsat-8 Images of Maharloo Lake and Its Surrounding Rangelands

Maharloo Lake is one of the salty lakes located in the southeast of Fars province, Iran. Presence of salt domes has a significant role in its salinity. Magnesium-sodium chloride and sodium sulfate are dominant salts of the lake. Due to the drying up of lake, widespread lands surrounding the area are exposed to secondary salinity. It seems necessary to investigate the changes to find salinity le...

Spatio-Temporal Change of Lake Water Extent in Wuhan Urban Agglomeration Based on Landsat Images from 1987 to 2015

Urban lakes play an important role in urban development and environmental protection for the Wuhan urban agglomeration. Under the impacts of urbanization and climate change, understanding urban lake-water extent dynamics is significant. However, few studies on the lake-water extent changes for the Wuhan urban agglomeration exist. This research employed 1375 seasonally continuous Landsat TM/ETM+...

From Ice to Ice-free: Glaciation in the Lake Ayr Valley, Central Tasmania

During the Last Glaciation in Tasmania a large ice cap developed on the western edge of the Central Plateau and overlapped on to the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair area. Several reticulate lobes flowed from this source, with the largest northern outlet, the Mersey Glacier, covering an area of c. 282 km2• The Lake Ayr Valley was occupied by a smail diffiuent lobe of the Mersey Glacier, and the la...

Parallel Beamformation Method to Enhance Ultrasound Images

Contrast resolution and detail resolution are two important parameters in ultrasound imaging. This paper presents a new method to enhance these parameters, simultaneously. A parallel auxiliary beamformer has been employed whose weightings are such that an estimation of the leaked signal through the main beamformer is obtained. Then the output of main beamformer is modified according to the ...
